If you choose to believe Star magazine—and I usually do!—then Jennifer Aniston is hoping to do some Shakespeare on the Great White Way. Apparently she performed in Romeo and Juliet and The Comedy of Errors while she was a student at the High School of the Performing Arts. Hmm… Could this be the influence of rumored new theater-district boyfriend…

Film star Josh Lucas—who made his Broadway debut in the Jessica Lange Glass Menagerie on Broadway two seasons back—is back on the boards, if only for a limited time. For the next week and a half, he’s taking the fifth guest star slot in the critically-acclaimed Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell at the Minetta Lane Theatre. I had a chance to sit down and chat with the laid-back charmer about the show yesterday. Here’s how it went.

What did Max Crumm and Laura Osnes do on Tuesday night after a busy day of press about the “ultimate Broadway audition” TV show Grease: You’re the One That I Want!? They went to see the ultimate Broadway audition Broadway musical, A Chorus Line! Here, Broadway.com photog Bruce Glikas caught them en route to the show. Who needs a limo?

Again I find myself wanting to write about American Idol, which has nothing really to do with Broadway. Then again, who am I kidding? You know one of these finalists will be in our hood in the near future. So, here are my quick thoughts on Tuesday’s live show, which featured coaching by Gwen Stefani!
Big Steps - Who jumped ahead this week

LaKisha Jones, for letting go and having a little fun with Donna Summer’s “Last Dance”… Gina Glocksen, for finally getting a little respect from the judges (and taking Entertainment Weekly’s recent fashion advice!)… Blake Lewis, for becoming even more crush-worthy by singing a love song (and rightfully being named the best guy on the show by Simon)…
Missteps - Who faltered this week

Chris Sligh, for completely missing the beat like a lame white boy… Melinda Doolittle, for looking older by trying to dress younger (yes, I know she can sing)… Haley Scarnato, for complicating the beautifully simple “True Colors”…
Step Off! - Who’s gotta go

Sanjaya Malakar, for being so damn resilient. The confident level on this kid is sky high. Clearly he’s got the Indian vote, the weepy teen vote and the beauty school vote. And he probably will be back next week. Sigh.

After watching them and rooting for them (mostly) over the past few months, I got a chance to meet Grease: You’re the One That I Want! champs Max Crumm and Laura Osnes up close and personal today. Thankfully they were just as charming and adorable as I could have hoped. Check out my video interview with them, shot at Sardi’s.

Broadway.com photographer Bruce Glikas also got some great shots of them, first in greaser drag in Military Island, right in the heart of Times Square:

And then in “street clothes” at Sardi’s…

I know I’m not the only one on Broadway obsessed with American Idol which is why I’m sharing a story over on our sister site. Hollywood.com’s Emily Christianson pulled together a little rundown on the Top 10 finalists on the show and graciously asked me to share my opinions. So, go check them out. (And stop e-mailing me–I want to love Lakisha and Melinda as much as the rest of you, but they need to turn it up a little!). And check out AI tonight—this week Gwen Stefani mentors the kids!
I also have to share this genius photo that I found on the Fox website of Simon Cowell promoting the April 25th Idol Gives Back two-parter, a special aiming to raise awareness and funds to organizations that provide relief programs for children and young people in need in America and Africa. Who said he always wears black?!
